I am currently developing a two-channel video installation that emerges from research and thinking about surface, space, and value. This research operates as a tacit influence in the construction of a non-linear narrative about a woman carrying an MDF board through the city, which takes shape as a sequence of ambiguous acts and intimate observations with no progression or evolution, and no destination.
This is installation is part of a new body of work I am developing that is oriented around an effort to address: the systems that attribute values; the complex problems of self-and-collective identification; and the weight of art history as it comes to bear on the present and future.
This work will show in December at the Sculpture Center in an exhibit called, "Public Hearing," organized by the VLA.
